Sdružení Jihočeské matky
(The South Bohemian Mother Association)

The statutes of the civic association
South Bohemian Mothers Association

Was founded in 1991 in České Budějovice and was officially registered in 1992. It is a non-political civil association whose mission is to protect nature and the countryside. The association endeavours to adjust man's consumer relationship towards the environment.

Our main task is to put an end to risk technologies, especially atomic power plants. We support the enforcement of alternative methods of acquiring energy that are less of a burden on the environment and, above all, to limit the excessive consumption of energy by looking at ways of saving it. The Association attempts to act as a counter-balance to the one-sided nuclear lobby campaign enforcing the completion of the Temelín Nuclear Power Plant as a matter of absolute necessity.

We comment on important documents (energy policy, the concept of handling radioactive waste, regional development strategic plans, draft laws and so on). We inform parliamentary deputies, senators and regional politicians of our initiatives.

The association prepares, publishes and disseminates ecologically orientated studies, publications and information leaflets. We organise press conferences on current topics, seminars and happenings. We help citizens to found civil associations, pass our experience on to them and advise them on how to proceed in specific cases.

The Association actively participates in other administrative proceedings in the South Bohemian region concerning projects that have an impact on the environment - our efforts are directed particularly at the protection of the landscape against other non-conceptual commercial exploitation.

We have, for several years now, also participated in administrative proceedings concerning one of the biggest ecological burdens in the region. This is MAPE Mydlovary (the decontamination of radioactive sludge after the processing of uranium ore).

Please write to us if you are interested in information about our work.
